Jama’at concerned over discriminatory behavior towards jail inmates

Srinagar: Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir expressed its deep anguish and concern over the prejudiced attitude of jail officials towards Kashmiri detunes and termed it brute violation of human rights.

Jama’at in a statement issued this afternoon said, the condition of detainees in Jammu jails are extremely insanitary and unhealthy. Inmates there, are being subjugated to worst form of rights abuses and no stone is being unturned to distress the Kashmiri detunes physically and psychologically. These inmates have been lodged and stayed with those criminals who are detained on the charges of decadent and immoral activities. The jail officials are not allowed Kashmiri inmates to meet them with their brethren who are lodged in other rooms and are not being permitted to wear black and green color dresses.

Jama’at said, the intensity of rights abused can be gauged by the behavior of jail officials who resorted to ethnic discrimination and are flouting the jail manual arbitrary. They are not even permitted to accept the food that their visiting family members are getting along with during permitted visits. Jails officials have made the arbitrary manual which has taken heavy toll to inmates. At 6am, they are being assembled for attendance where they are served tea and later at 9 am, they are given lunch. Then they are served tea at 3 pm and dinner at 4 pm. There is nothing in between, Jama’at said.

Kashmiri inmates are not being allowed to exercise their religious right inside jail. When they stand for Tahajud or Fajr, criminals lodged there made immense noise and cry. Even they are being warned of dire consequences if they will continue their prayer. Same situation happened in Kuthua and Udhampur jails where inmates are being harassed of terrible penalty.

Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir condemns this discriminatory behavior by jails officials towards Kashmiris and appeals Bar Association of Kashmir to send a high level delegation there to access the situation regarding Kashmiri prisoners. Also appeals human rights bodies to take strong cognizance of the condition of Kashmiri inmates and save them from dire consequences sounded by criminals lodged in these jails on the behest of their mentors. Jama’at pays glowing tributes to all inmates lodged in state and outside jails who sacrificing their present for the future and freedom of this hapless nation.

Setting schools on fire’ ploy to distract attention from HR violations, says Jama’at

Srinagar: Expressing its serious concern over the setting of schools on fire in various parts of valley, Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir terms it a ‘well designed ploy to distract attention of world community from the rights abuses by government forces in Kashmir’ and appeals local populace to come forward for the safety and security of educational institutes in their respective areas.

In a statement issued to media, Jama’at said, setting of schools on fire during this ongoing peaceful public movement is undoubtedly a ploy to distract the attention of world community from the rights violations and barbarity perpetrated by government forces in Kashmir. The present ongoing peaceful movement has unnerved Indian hypocritical outlook before world. As India is well educated about the rights violations made by its forces in Kashmir since July 8, in particular and from 1947 in general but for the concealment of truth, India will leave no opportunity to dupe the international community and will always try to misrepresent our just and legitimate freedom struggle. Jama’at at this critical juncture appeals local populace particularly youth to keep day and night vigil for the security and safety of educational institutions in their respective areas in order to secure the public property.

Jama’at said, as the present dispensation on the orders of their masters has beaten the drums and showed fabricated concern over the future of Kashmiri children but people of Kashmir are now more conscious and politically mature to understand the wicked and malicious gimmicks by oppressor being used in the pretext of education. Those who are beating chests and yelling on the future of kids today should have to show some humanity too towards those children who had been rained with bullets and pellets by their uncontrollable forces and made them dead and visionless forever. Since July, 8 more than 90 youth have been killed, 15 thousand innocents have been severely and partially injured and maimed and the same number (15 thousand) have been arrested so far by Indian forces. If people at helm were truly sincere about the future of children in Kashmir, then on what crime their rowdy forces snatched hundreds of eyes of school going children whose dream was to become a good and responsible citizen in their life? What will be the take of people at helm on whose behest forces snatch the dream of Insha? Literally what they propagate is just a part of their filthy politics and nothing else.

Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir appeals world bodies along with all national and international human rights groups to come forward and stop India from committing war crimes in Kashmir and take bold and tangible measures for the resolution of long standing Kashmir dispute which is the indispensable bone of contention between the two nations, India and Pakistan.

Police re-arrest Advocate Zahid Ali

Brute violation of human rights, says Jama’at

Srinagar: Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir vehemently condemns the re-arrest of its spokesperson Advocate Zahid Ali under a baseless case and termed it brute violation of human rights.

Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir, in a statement said, police today took Advocate Zahid Ali before Executive Magistrate in a case wherein the said authority had not said anything but entrapped him in another flimsy and fabricated case under section CrPC 107/151 which falls under the jurisdiction of police station Shaheed Gunj. At the occasion police failed to produce any kind of evidence against the arrestee and captured him in another case with a malicious design, which depicts police is violating all human rights in Kashmir under their feet. Authorities have fixed 25th October, 2016 for next hearing of Zahid Ali’s case and shifted him to sub-jail Kothibagh.

Jama’at expresses its strong resentment over the arrest spree by police and other forces in Baramullah, Handwara, Pulwama, Srinagar and other localities. Forces have created war like situation by picking up of thousands of youth during crackdowns and nocturnal raids. Forces first crackdown the localities wherein they beat inmates ruthlessly and detain incalculable youth and posed them before the media as trouble mongers and violence instigators.

Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir condemns this attitude of police and other forces agencies and terms it brute violation of human rights. At this occasion Jama’at appeals all international human rights bodies to take tangible notice of this atrocious behavior and come forward for the well being of Kashmiri people.

Conducive atmosphere needed before holing examinations

Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba Jammu and Kashmir (IJT) has demanded that authorities in Kashmir should create conducive atmosphere before embarking on the process of holding examinations as the prevailing situation in Kashmir has had its effect on the process of the education. In our opinion that conducive atmosphere can be created by considering the suggestions given as under:

1. Giving full consideration to the demands of students regarding the date of conduct of examinations. The authorities at JKBOSE and Higher Education Department should seriously and empathetically look into the demands made by the student community without allowing anyone to use the examinations as a tool to further political ends. It is advisable to chalk out some middle path after consultations with the representatives of students.

2 People currently at the helm of affairs in education department should give due consideration to the meaningful suggestions put forward by some ex-officers of the department and not make the issue a prestige point at the cost of students’ careers.

3 All cases registered against students from July 08 onwards should be withdrawn so that they are able to resume their studies and appear in the examinations, whenever held, with assurance of physical well being and psychological satisfaction.

4 Those students who have suffered injury of any kind should be allowed to proceed to next classes without having to appear in the examinations.

Forces raid in Shopian ’ worst form of state terrorism: Jama’at

Srinagar: Expressing its serious concern over the high handedness of government forces in Shopian, Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir strongly condemns this inhumane and atrocious behavior and termed it worst form of state terrorism.

Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir said, the way the forces beat inmates at Warpora village of Nagbal,  Shopian early morning resulting dozens of innocents injured and vandalized property worth millions of rupees, proves how government forces are terrified from ongoing peaceful movement which has unnerved India on global level. It has become an order of the day for forces to barge into Mohallas and Colonies where they beat inmates mercilessly and detain youth indiscriminately of no fault.

Moreover, Jama’at expresses its resentment over the enforcement of PSA upon defenseless Kashmiris and termed it grave violation of human rights. The practice of slapping PSA’s upon aged people in Jammu and Kashmir by PDP led regime has exposed everything which the party had claimed in past. ‘Goli se nahi, boli se’ has turned into PSA’s, bullets, pellets, PAVA’s etc and no one is allowed to raise voice against the high handedness and atrocious behavior of India.

Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir expresses sympathy with people of Warpora, Shopian who got injured during forces raid and urges human rights bodies to take effective measures for the well being of Kashmiri people and stop India from perpetrating war crimes in Kashmir.

Jama’at leader Mohammad Shaban Dar slapped with PSA, shifted to Kathua Jail

Government is terrified from peaceful peoples movement: Jama’at-e-Islami

Srinagar: Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir (JeI) vehemently condemns the slapping of PSA on its leader Mohammad Shaban Dar of Mazbugh, Sopore and five others and termed it grave violation of human rights.

Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir said, during an intervening night of 18th and 19th September police and SOG personnel raided the house of Mohammad Shaban Dar resident of Mazbugh, Sopore and arrested Dar sahib on spot and later on detained him at police station Arampora, Sopore. Dar sahib along with other five respected citizens of the area has been slapped by most notorious law Public Safety Act and shifted all of them to Kathua Jail, which is highly condemnable and itself a grave violation of human rights.

Jama’at said, police also detained Abdul Qayoom Dar (associate of Jama’at) of Shopian before some days and today he has also been slapped with PSA and authorities has shifted him to Kathua jail, which is an ample evidence that the government is terrified by the ongoing peaceful peoples movement who are demanding their birth right ‘right to self-determination’.  The violation of human rights by government forces in valley can be gauged by the behavior that before shifting the detainees to outside valley jails and did not allow detainees to meet their relatives. Moreover for collection of dossier made by police becomes hard for the relatives of detainees to collect.

Forces have started unabated arrest spree in valley to foil the people’s movement. During raids, forces beat inmates ruthlessly and damaged vehicles and houses extremely and damaging of crops and fruits has become a routine of forces from some weeks especially in South and Central Kashmir in order to  horrify people and retreat them from participating in pro-freedom rallies, which is a blatant violation of human rights, Jama’at said.

Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir in strong words condemns the slapping of Public Safety Act (PSA) on Mohammad Shaban Dar and other five respectable persons which proves government is terrified from the peoples peaceful movement. Also Jama’at expresses its sympathy with their families and urges international foras to take strong cognizance of human rights violations perpetrated by India forces in Kashmir.

The woman and the man guilty of illegal sexual intercourse, flog each of them with a hundred stripes. Let not pity withhold you in their case, in a punishment prescribed by Allah, if you believe in Allah and the Last Day. And let a party of the believers witness their punishment. (This punishment is for unmarried persons guilty of the above crime but if married persons commit it, the punishment is to stone them to death, according to Allah's Law).
