Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu & Kashmir strongly condemns the decision of the so called war crimes tribunal of Bangladesh which awarded death punishment to a top leader of Jama’at-e-Islami Bangladesh’ Moulana Azhar-ul-Islam for the fake allegations relating to 1971 Indo-Pak war. This court verdict is nothing but a dictation of the anti-islamic government of Sheikh Haseena at the behest of some imperialistic powers who are bent upon to stop the Islamic parties from coming to power with the support of the people.

Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood accusation

Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood accusation

The Muslim Brotherhood was among the first groups in the Arab world to fight a real war in Palestine [for the sake of its liberation] and its members have been through many historical encounters that have been deemed worthy of documentation even among its worst enemies.

No one can deny that Hamas has had a connection with the Muslim Brotherhood since its foundation in 1987. Hamas, as a movement, does not deny its ideological and historical links with the Muslim Brotherhood. On the contrary, it often highlights these links at any chance it can and it should have the right to feel a sense of pride in its connection to the Muslim Brotherhood, whether emotional or ideological.

The Muslim Brotherhood was among the first groups in the Arab world to fight a real war in Palestine [for the sake of its liberation] and its members have been through many historical encounters that have been deemed worthy of documentation even among its worst enemies. In fact, Hassan Al-Banna, the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood, placed the Palestinian cause at the forefront of the group's issues and it was this dedication that eventually led to his assassination in broad daylight.

The Muslim Brotherhood is not a small and marginal movement, nor is it an ordinary organisation by any means. It is an extensive organisation with a network of many branches throughout the entire world and it is involved in many humanitarian and moral causes. Thus, it is very rare to find an institution that does not have some minor affiliation with the Muslim Brotherhood; in fact it is often stronger than many of the repressive regimes it encounters, which are frequently threatened by even a minor hiccup. For this reason, the individuals who are calling on Hamas to end its ties with the Muslim Brotherhood do not actually wish Hamas well, whether they admit this or not. In fact, those who wish this upon Hamas are asking it to strip itself of its final shield of protection and stand there, bare and vulnerable to all threats.

No one can deny that Hamas is an authentic Palestinian resistance movement, one that does not intervene or interfere in Egyptian affairs or any others for that matter but it must be noted that Al-Sisi's government's problem with Hamas does not stem from its shared ideological roots with the Muslim Brotherhood but from its classification as a Palestinian resistance group against the Israeli military occupation. The Egyptian government would have accepted nothing Hamas has done so long as it continued to fight the illegitimate Israeli occupation. Hamas, as an organisation, is not particularly concerned with pleasing this system or that, and as long as it continues to launch rockets, build tunnels and resist, its enemies will continue to encourage hostility and the siege against it.

Fatah has long made the mistake of using Hamas's ideological connection to the Muslim Brotherhood as something that should be considered a setback for the group and it is on this basis that it has encouraged outsiders to go against Hamas. Fatah's actions towards its rival are neither nationalistic nor moral. Due to Fatah's political stupidity on this subject, Hamas has garnered more and more international support.

What distinguishes Hamas from other groups is that it does not interfere in the affairs of other states or institutions and that it does not use its strength or its capabilities unless they are focused on combatting the Israeli occupation, no matter who provokes them. Hamas has been able to achieve a balance of power in its relationships with outside forces regardless of its Brotherhood roots and has managed to remain immune to the region's many difficult realities.

Terming all mainstream politicians of Kashmir as “opportunists and unprincipled,” Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani Friday alleged that these people are power hungry and have nothing to do with the miseries of the common people.
In a statement issued here he said, “The status of Kashmir issue can’t be changed by election drama. By using it as a tool, India wants to lengthen its control of Kashmir.”
Addressing people at Hyderpora Jamia Masjid, Geelani termed the actions of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, ISIS and Boko Haraam as un-Islamic and inhuman he said these people are defaming the Islam and their actions don’t have any Islamic or moral justification. “Islam has high values and regards for a human life and the Holy Quran term the murder of a single human being as the murder of whole humanity. Prophet Muhammad (saw) was not only sent as a blessing for the whole humanity but he gave us lessons for safeguarding the rights of animals.”
“Our Prophet (SAW) had pardoned his worst enemies and presented a beautiful character before them. The people who are killing children in the name of Islam, kidnapping school children and subjecting people to the worst torture during their custody, they are totally unaware from the spirit of Islam and they are becoming the big hurdle in the propagation of Islam. Islam is the religion of peace, brotherhood and equality and Islam want justice among the whole humanity based on equality. In the past, Islam has propagated with the help of its excellent character and morality which it presented before the people and in the future it will spread in the entire world due to its high regard for the human values,” he said.
Geelani, however, said the ‘freedom movements’ which are going on in many places in the world can’t be linked with this terrorism which has engulfed the whole world. “These are two different realities and they can’t be mixed up with each other. Most of the nations of the world in the past have achieved their freedom through the struggle and these movements and struggles are still active in the regions like Palestine, Kashmir and Afghanistan,” he said.
Commenting over the recently held assembly elections in Jammu & Kashmir, the Hurriyat (G) chairman termed all the mainstream politicians as equal and said “some pro-India people have tried to befool the people during the election campaigning by talking about the solution of Kashmir issue.”
“Be it Omar Abdullah, Mufti Sayeed or anybody else, they all are the advocators of the India’s control over Kashmir. They are opportunist politicians and work as the daily wagers of the authorities in New Delhi. Their only work is to endorse the crime which forces of India are committing against the people of Jammu & Kashmir. They ask people for the votes in the name of water, electricity, roads but then they sell these votes for their salaries and luxuries with India,” he alleged.
“All the tactics and wickedness have failed in the past and it will remain unsuccessful in the future also. No power in the world can keep us away from our goal and the history is testimony of the fact that how the big powers surrendered in front of the struggling nations,”

In a statement, Egypt's broad-based National Alliance urges unity and continued mobilization, and calls for a 'Together we save Egypt' week of protests, in preparation for a thundering wave of demonstrations in the memory of January 25 (2011) Revolution

To the revolutionary men and women of Egypt...

Your resilience, awareness and steadfastness over the past months have proved that the coup commanders' schemes are worthless. Your thundering revolutionary rallies and continued resistance have trampled all the calculations of America's junta in Egypt, made them lose their minds, and led them to muddled confusion, random reactions and internal conflict.

The situation is bad, to levels unprecedented in the history of Egypt. Anguish, organized looting and official thuggery are widespread. Tourism is being completely destroyed with a climate of terror that is scaring off foreigners. Military trials for civilians are being used in an attempt to cover up the coup criminals' blood-stained hands. But that will not happen! Your revolutionary action will continue. There is no place in Egypt's Revolution for paid brokers or wave-riders.

The whole region is atop a raging volcano. The hegemony and tyranny project is digging its own grave. Meanwhile, Egypt's revolutionaries are determined to bring about victory for all the vulnerable in the whole world. Your revolutionary action here stops the axis of evil from reaching the very heart of the Arab world. You should realize how critical your position is in all this, know the importance of your revolutionary action in this decisive moment in the life of our nation, and move strongly forward to defeat the illegitimate coup.

The criminal leader of the military junta is bankrupt, after clear failure and rejection, both at home and abroad. He therefore is endeavoring to restore the state of corruption, with the same ugly faces that sell the homeland and impoverish the people and enriched themselves at the people's expense.

But failure will remain the coup commander's sole ally. The balance of power is already tipping in the Revolution's favor. The crucial moment is not here yet; but it is close now. The Revolution will succeed with this generation of free men and women who proudly raise the slogan: No Retreat, No Surrender, No Waiting-around.

Continue to unite and close ranks, continue the revolutionary mobilization. Let us launch a week of protests in preparation for a thundering wave of demonstrations in memory of the January 25 (2011) Revolution, under the slogan "Together, we save Egypt". Raise the flags of Egypt and signs of Rabaa, of defiance and steadfastness. In your chants, condemn the criminal Al-Sisi, Mubarak, the Zionist enemy, the American conspirator, and the Gulf sponsors.

The Revolution's clock is ticking. The time has come for all Egypt's revolutionaries to join the march onto the road to victory, and to prepare for the dawn of a new and decisive revolutionary year, in which the Egyptian Revolution will go into a vital and pivotal stage of the peaceful struggle for democratic transformation. The Revolution will prove to the whole world that the will of the Egyptian people will not be easily broken, and that no-one, whatever tools of oppression or persecution they have, will dare divert the Revolution, stop its determined march, or delay its inevitable victory.

Egypt's revolutionaries are capable of achieving the objectives of the January 25 Revolution and safeguarding its gains. Together, let us defeat the junta, reverse the coup, and prepare together for the post-coup stage. For, indeed, these are important stages of the Revolution that will not stop until all falsehood and illegitimacy is at an end. The people of Egypt will not abandon their freedoms and rights.

One revolution.. one blood.. one murderer

Formation of Jama’at-e-Islami

Syed Mawdoodi rose to say, “people bear witness to me that I hear by, do repeat the First Declaration of a Muslim (that there is no god but Allah and Muhammad (PBUH) is His messenger). After him Moulana Muhammad Manzoor Nomani stood up only to follow the suit. And thereafter, everyone repeated the First Declaration (Kalima)

of a Muslim, with tearful eyes as the First Declaration makes very heavy demands from the Declarant i.e requires him only to bow before Allah to the exclusion of all others. Syed Mawdoodi said, “Jama’at-e-Islami stands formed, and now let us pray that Allah may bestow upon us the strength and fortitude to fashion our lives in accordance with the dictates of The Quran and Sunnah

Historic Words of Syed Mawdoodi

"I will never let myself become hindrance in the way of Jama’at, I mean, I, would not give an opportunity to anyone to say that he cannot join Jama’at because it is being headed by an incompetent person. I offer to the perfect, to come and discharge those duties,

I have been burdened with. And this is a standing offer, however, I cannot bear with, none coming forward, and yet I should not do what I can. For me this movement is the very purpose of my life. Let me say I would like to live and die for it. No matter, if none is ready to tread this path yet I will move along with it, albeit, I have to go all alone even in the face of united opposition by the whole world. Still I shall not stop fighting single handedly.”

Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu & Kashmir

Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir (JI) was initially established before the partition of Indo-Pak subcontinent in 1947 and had a well-knit set-up in Jammu province of the state. After partition majority of Muslim population in Jammu province migrated to Pakistan and about five lakh Muslims,

who stayed back, were massacred under a well planned policy by the Hindu fanatics with the support of the then government of Maharaja Hari Singh's army. After this tragedy the Jama’at unit in Jammu could not continue.

In Kashmir some noble personalities got introduced to Jama’at-e-Islami movement while they were in Punjab in connection with their studies. The prominent among them were Moulana Sa'ad-ud-Din Tarabali (A.R) and Moulana Ghulam Ahmad Ahrar Shopiani (A.R). Through them a number of educated persons got introduced to the programme and aims and objectives of Jama’at and became its sympathizers. Syed Mohammad Shafi (Nawab-Bazar), Ghulam Rasool Abdullah (Fateh-Kadal), Ghulam Mohammad Beg (Narwara), Mohammad Hussain Chisti, Moulana Saif-ud-Din Qari, Moulana Hakim Ghulam Nabi (Fazil-e-Deoband), Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Moulana Mohammad Amin Shopiani (May Allah bless them all) were among the first to get influenced by the Jama’at ideology.

The formal unit of Jama’at was formed in 1946 in the form of a library (Darul Muta'la) at Nawab Bazar, Srinagar and Moulana Saad-ud-Din (A.R) was elected as its first head.

After partition, the Jama’at unit in Srinagar continued to work under the supervision of Moulana Saad-ud-Din Sahib. Being a government teacher (Headmaster), Maulana introduced many people mostly his colleagues and students to the fledgling Islamic Movement.

In 1953, after then prime minister of Jammu and Kashmir and strong voice of popular plebiscite demand, Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, was arrested, it was realized that the resolution of Kashmir dispute will take longer time than expected. In this backdrop, Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir framed its separate constitution in 1953 and Moulana Saad-ud-Din (A.R) was elected as the first Ameer-e-Jama’at under this constitution.

In a one-room office at Nawab Bazar near famous Mujahid Manzil, Jama’at used to hold its weekly congregations (Ijtimas) and people from Budgam, Baramulla, Sopore and other far flung areas would regularly participate in them.

During this period education was not widespread in Kashmir and people, especially Muslims of the state were illiterate. Education being one among the basic precepts of Islam, Jama’at decided to establish schools in various areas of the state to impart education to people at grass roots level. One such school was established by Jama’at at Arwani, Islamabad in south Kashmir where Moulana Hakim Ghulam Nabi (A.R) used to teach. Maulana Hakim was a pass out from famous Islamic seminary, Dar-ul-Uloom Deoband.  The school would teach every subject except English.

In 1952, Hakim Ghulam Hassan of Nawab Bazar, Srinagar, who had been introduced to Jama’at ideology soon after he passed his matriculation in 1942, was dispatched to Arwani School. Hassan, with the aid and guidance of Hakim Ghulam Nabi, introduced English subject in the curriculum from the 1st primary, though in those days English was taught from 6th class in government schools. Soon another school was established at Nawab Bazar and then after at Barzulla in Srinagar where Moulana Qari Saif-ud-Din (A.R) used to teach. This was followed by establishing a chain of schools across the valley. Through these schools Jama’at reached to grass roots level and was widely introduced in the Kashmir valley and Muslim dominated areas of the Jammu region. These educational institutions, besides imparting education at mass level, helped spread message of Jama’at. This vast educational network run by Jama’at catalyzed social change in Kashmir.

Jama’at-e-Islami faced number of difficulties and was subjected to tribulations for raising the voice of revolutionary change in the social and political set up of the state in accordance with the principles and teachings of Islam. Another reason for which Jama’at was victimized was raising the voice of oppressed people of J&K, whose basic and inherent right to self-determination was usurped by New Delhi. Jama’at demanded the fulfillment of the promise made to the people of the state through the resolutions of Security Council of the United Nations Organization. The delay in fulfilling the promise was causing sufferings to millions of people living in J&K.

To raise the issue of self determination effectively, Jama’at contested local Assembly and Parliamentary elections a number of times and succeeded on five seats for the local Assembly. While in the Assembly, the elected members of Jama’at demanded the implementation of Islamic rule in the state and also demanded granting the right to self-determination for the people of the state. The result was obvious; Jama’at leadership and workers would be thrown into jail off and on. There is no prominent leader or worker in Jama’at who has not spent a considerable time in the jails from the very day the Jama’at was formed.

In 1975, Jama’at was banned when Indra Gandhi declared emergency in India and Shiekh Mohammad Abdullah, at that time Chief Minister of the state, extended the emergency to state. As a result, hundreds of schools run by Jama’at throughout the state were forcibly closed down, precluding thousands of students from receiving education offered at a minimal fee in these schools. Hundreds of educated youth engaged as teachers and non-teaching staff in these schools were rendered unemployed.

On April 4, 1979 soon after the execution of Zulfikar Ali Bhuttoo, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan on the orders of Pakistani court, a wave of anti-Jama’at protests erupted in Kashmir. Though there was not even a strike in Pakistan. The subsequent investigation revealed the rioters were backed by the National Conference led State government with Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah as chief minister. Thousands of houses belonging to Jama’at cadres and sympathizers were torched by the unruly mobs at the behest of the government. The attackers were given a free hand, with promise of impunity, to assault people associated with Jama’at and destroy their property. After the dust settled, estimates showed that damage to the tone of Crores of rupees was made to the property of Jama’at associates. Apple orchards spread on swathes of land, and belonging to Jama’at sympathizers were uprooted. This mad show continued for three days with the then government looking as a mute spectator without taking any action against the rioters. Libraries with Islamic books worth thousands of rupees were burnt and even the Quran was desecrated at many places for being "Maudoodi Quran." One of the Jama’at associates in north Kashmir was also martyred. Communists, Qadianis, besides groups of so-called Molvis, under the patronage of National Conference leaders and workers were part of these unruly mobs bent to wreak havoc on Jama’at.

In 1990, people of Kashmir started armed struggle to end the Indian occupation. Jama’at was again banned and declared an unlawful association. All its offices from Central level to basic unit were locked down by the local administration. People from all walks of life participated in the armed struggle triggered by rigging of 1987 assembly elections. However, people belonging to Jama’at were specifically made the main targets of the counter insurgency operations. Thousands of associates of Jama’at were martyred by army and other counter insurgency forces including about two thousand basic members, known as Arkaan. They included many intellectuals and dignitaries of the organization. Thousands of Jama’at associates were detained in notorious torture and detention centers where they were ruthlessly tortured. It will require volumes to jot down this sordid story of bloodshed to which Jama’at was subjected. It was the worst affected organization during the post ninety turmoil in J&K.

In 1998, Jama’at reopened it’s headquarter at Baranpather Batmaloo in Srinagar after Ghulam Mohammad Bhat was elected its Ameer. Gradually the offices in districts too were reopened and Jama’at restarted its functioning though the intermittent killing of Jama’at people continued during this period too. Undeterred, this caravan of champions of Islam continued its journey despite all odds towards the cherished goal of "Iqamat-e-Deen" (Establishment of the Islamic system of life as revealed to the last messenger of Allah, Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and established in practice by him (SAW) in the Arab peninsula with the holy city of Madina as the first capital of Islamic State, fourteen hundred years ago). Today Jama’at is moving towards realization of its mission and the caravan is swelling. The day is not far away when we will see the dream coming true-In’shallah.

Though Maulana Saad-u-Din was heading Jama’at from its inception, he was formally elected its first ameer after Jama’at drafted and adopted a separate constitution in 1953.

1. Maulana Saad-u-Din (1953-1985)… elected for 10 consecutive terms

2. Ghulam Mohammad Bhat (1985-1988)…1 term

3. Hakeem Ghulam Nabi (1988-1997)… 3 terms

4. Ghulam Mohammad Bhat (1997-2003)…2 terms

5. Syed Nazir Ahmad Kashani (2003-2006)1 term

6. Shiekh Mohammad Hassan (2006-2012) 2 terms

7. Mohammad Abdullah Wani (incumbent)

The woman and the man guilty of illegal sexual intercourse, flog each of them with a hundred stripes. Let not pity withhold you in their case, in a punishment prescribed by Allah, if you believe in Allah and the Last Day. And let a party of the believers witness their punishment. (This punishment is for unmarried persons guilty of the above crime but if married persons commit it, the punishment is to stone them to death, according to Allah's Law).

Al'Quraan Surah Noor

Prophet Mohammad PBUH

Narrated: Abu Huraira (R.A) that a man said to the Prophet, sallallahu 'alayhi wasallam: "Advise me! "The Prophet (PBUH) said, "Do not become angry and furious." The man asked (the same) again and again, and the Prophet said in each case, "Do not become angry and furious." [Al-Bukhari; Vol. 8 No. 137]
