Srinagar: The detention of Muzamil Farooq Dar, s student of the English Department in Kashmir University by the police is a most condemnable act and whosoever is responsible for it, is also condemned in strong terms. This student being a Muslim has peacefully protested against conducting “Yoga Day” in the campus alongwith his other colleagues. Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir reminds the university authorities that it is not Banaas or Nagpur but Kashmir where the majority of population is Muslim and there is no place for holding “Yoga day” and motivating Muslim youths by use of undue influence to participate in it as ‘yoga’ itself goes against the basic tenets of Islam. Why such an importance is given to yoga day when it is not at all acceptable to Muslims? It seems that the university authorities in order to please the present day Indian rulers are conducting such programmes which are quite repugnant to the basic teachings of Islam and such absurd and vulgar activities have no place in the Islamic set-up of life. The Muslims have been commanded to desist from such absurd activities which go quite against the basic rules of modesty. Some pseudo-Muslim intellectuals in order to please the communal rulers for achieving their worldly designs are considering ‘yoga’ as a physical exercise. Such elements are basically responsible for the present-day downfall of the Muslim Ummah as they have always played the role of the agents of the enemies of Islam. One question is asked to the Vice Chancellor sahib, who fortunately hails from a religious dynasty, “Can a Muslim woman perform such activities before a strange person which are part and parcel of yoga”? Have you been assigned the duty of moulding the Muslim students according to Un-Islamic norms and behaviour or to develop and promote their academic talent and faculties? The common masses may be awakened about the real policy.

Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir stresses upon all the heads of the educational institutions and professional training centres not to allow any such function which is likely to hurt the religious feelings of the lacs of Muslims living over here but keep their attention concentrated for the educational upliftment and skillful development of the students. The renowned Islamic organizations, scholars and intellectuals are also appealed to make awareness among the common masses about these nefarious and sinister designs against Islam and Muslim Ummah and express their displeasure against these anti-Islamic activities.

The woman and the man guilty of illegal sexual intercourse, flog each of them with a hundred stripes. Let not pity withhold you in their case, in a punishment prescribed by Allah, if you believe in Allah and the Last Day. And let a party of the believers witness their punishment. (This punishment is for unmarried persons guilty of the above crime but if married persons commit it, the punishment is to stone them to death, according to Allah's Law).

Al'Quraan Surah Noor

Prophet Mohammad PBUH

Narrated: Abu Huraira (R.A) that a man said to the Prophet, sallallahu 'alayhi wasallam: "Advise me! "The Prophet (PBUH) said, "Do not become angry and furious." The man asked (the same) again and again, and the Prophet said in each case, "Do not become angry and furious." [Al-Bukhari; Vol. 8 No. 137]
